Communicating
with Volunteers: A Few Ingredients for Success
As
communications professionals we can find ourselves spending sizeable
chunks of time (both in our ‘real’ jobs and those we
don’t get paid for) doing one of the following three activities:
· being volunteers (in good times and bad)
·
recruiting and developing other people to be good volunteers, or
·
advocating to staff, management and others about the benefits of
working with volunteers (whether we like it or not!)
Whether
we’re trying to engage volunteers to work on boards or committees,
get a reluctant colleague to work with volunteers or to have our
CEO support a volunteer program (beyond just talk), communicating
with and about volunteers can take up a big chunk of time and energy.
Rebecca
understands the challenges of both non-profit and for-profit organizations.
In this session, Rebecca will share lots of ideas and immediate
action steps to “sell” your organization’s opportunities
to both current and potential volunteers.
