Work/Life Balance Panelists
David
Albritton, Raytheon Company
David is currently
the Director of Media Relations at Raytheon Company, one of the
largest defense and aerospace technology solutions providers in
the world, with operations almost 80 countries. Most recently, he
was the senior vice president of Communications for The Caraway
Group, Inc., a Washington, D.C. - based public relations and public
affairs agency. David holds a B.S. in General Engineering from the
U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, as well as an M.S. in Management
from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. He and his wife,
Kimberly reside in Accokeek, MD outside of Washington, DC with son,
Chase. His daughter, Adrienne, is entering her senior year at Howard
University in Washington.
Jeanne
O. Mitchell, Exxon Mobil Corporation
Jeanne is Washington, D.C. representative for Exxon Mobil. She worked
for Mobil Oil and its affiliated companies from 1990 until 2002
when she assumed her lobbying assignment on Capitol Hill. In that
period she was communications manager, senior public affairs adviser
and community affairs manager. She also worked for the Mobil Foundation.
She is a recipient of a PRSA National Silver Anvil Award. Jeanne
is a UF Agricultural Communication alumna - BS 1980, MA 1981.
Susan
B. Towler, APR,
The Blue Foundation for a Healthy Florida, Inc.
Susan is the first executive director for The Blue Foundation for
a Healthy Florida, Inc. She is also Vice President of Community
Affairs for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSF). Susan
was formerly the public relations director for BCBSF, the state’s
leader in the health industry. She joined the company in April 1996
as a senior media relations consultant. Susan is an accredited member
of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), where she served
as president of the North Florida Chapter in 1996. She graduated
from UF in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations.
Cheryl
Procter-Rogers, APR, Fellow PRSA,
A Step Ahead Public Relations
Cheryl is the founder of A Step Ahead Public Relations in Lincolnshire,
Illinois, a PR consulting firm. Cheryl formerly spent nine years
as regional corporate affairs director for HBO where she was responsible
for communications strategies across 14 states in the Midwest and
the West. Previously, she worked as a communications consultant
in the Chicago area and as director of public relations and advertising
for Nielsen North America. She is currently the 2006 National President
and CEO of PRSA. Cheryl earned a bachelor’s degree in English
and journalism from Bradley University and an MBA from Keller Graduate
School of Management.
Kim
Sams, APR, Walt Disney World Company
Kim is manager of conservation initiatives and the chief administrator
for the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund at Walt Disney World.
Before Disney’s Animal Kingdom opened, she helped create the
company’s strategies for conservation ethics. Prior to her
16 years with Disney, she worked at the Osceola County Tourist Development
Council and at Sea World. She is a graduate of the Leadership Orlando
program (1993). Kim is a UF Public Relations alumna - 1979. She
lives on a small farm with her husband and 17-year-old daughter.
Rebecca
Hart, APR, Hart & Partners (Moderator)
Rebecca is president of Hart & Partners, a public relations
firm based in Jacksonville. She also is a co-founder of DataZone
Research and Consulting, Inc., a business that specializes in panel
research. She previously worked as an account group supervisor for
the Robin Shepherd Group in Jacksonville and as an account executive
for DDB Needham in Chicago. She started her career working in television
and radio. She has won numerous awards, including the 2004 Florida
Public Relations Association’s Golden Image Award of Distinction.
Rebecca is a UF Telecommunication alumna – 1991, and lives
with her husband and two sons near the ocean in Jacksonville Beach,
FL .
